How to get to Budapest


By air
Budapest (Ferihegy) International Airport is 20 kms (13 miles) south-east of the city centre. It has two terminals: Terminal One is reopened for low-cost airlines; Terminal Two is divided into two, with Terminal 2A the departure and arrival point for flights of Malév Hungarian Airlines and Terminal 2B hosting all international carriers' flights.

Shuttlebus from the airport to the city center
Participants are kindly required to make their own way from the airport / railway station to the hotel or to the conference venue. From the airport it is advisable to use LRI Shuttle Bus Service (airport mini-bus service); this service is reasonable priced and reliable. This shuttle bus service is operating between Ferihergy airport and any given address within Budapest. The service is available in the arrival baggage reclaim area and in the hall at the LRI shuttle Bus Service Desk.

TAXI from the airport to the center is very expensive!

Ferihegy Terminal 1:
There is a fast train connection between the airport and the Western Railway Station. You can travel very fast and cheap from the airport the to the city center within less than half an hour for 300 HUF and at the same, you can by here your pass or tickets. You have to change for the Tram No. 4. or 6. (towards Petőfi Bridge direction) to reach your accomodation and/or the University.

Ferihegy Terminal 2:
You have to possibilities: take the only BUS No.200. till the Terminal 1 and here change for the fast train. Or you can travel by the BUS No.200 till the final station, Kőbánya- Kispest, where you can by your tickets or pass and have to change for the Metro 3 (Blue line). The Metro will take you to the Ferenc körút (Üllői út) station. Here you have to change for the Tram No. 6. or 4. will take you to your accomodation and/or the University.

The most important transport we use tram No. 4. and 6. We offer you to choose your accomodation on the line of tram No. 4 or 6, because this tram will take you to the Eötvös Loránd University campus, too! The name of the tram station of the University campus: Petőfi híd- Budai Hídfő


By railway
Budapest has three main train stations from which international and domestic trains depart. The railway stations are near the centre and they are connected to the public transport network. The capital can easily be reached by train from all directions. There are direct rail links between Budapest and the major capitals and cities of Europe. By coach
International services terminate and depart from Népliget Coach Station, which is also the terminus for a number of domestic routes. www.volanbusz.hu


By car
All Hungary's motorways and most of the main roads radiate out from the capital. The M1, M3, M5 and M7 are toll motorways, and you must pay the appropriate toll (either at the border or at larger petrol stations) and display the windscreen sticker before joining the road. Public transport in Budapest

It is relatively easy to find your way in Budapest. The Danube flows through the middle of the city. Facing down-stream, the right bank is Buda, the left is Pest.

Budapest's network of public transport services includes buses, trolleybuses, trams, underground trains (Metró) and over ground suburban trains (HÉV). Buses, trams and trolleybuses run daily from 4.30 a.m. until 11.00 p.m. All three Underground lines connect at Deák tér Station, and service frequencies range from 15 minutes late in the evening to every two minutes at peak times.
